Acme did not put out Escape magazine - ask a certain Mr Paul Gravett if you have any doubts! The magazine Acme did publish was Speakeasy, and it was issue 100 of that which contained the exhibition brochure.

Alan WoollcombeAlan Woollcombenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3289256621546551155.post-45268191805200127562013-05-16T20:02:02.461+01:002013-05-16T20:02:02.461+01:00Tony, good to hear from you and I hadn't put t...Tony, good to hear from you and I hadn't put two and two together so many thanks for this
NormanNorman Boydhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15786362698394605291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3289256621546551155.post-55917365188744487842013-05-16T11:56:21.016+01:002013-05-16T11:56:21.016+01:00I don't know whether Red Devil Dean was based ...I don't know whether Red Devil Dean was based on a real person, but Tug Wilson was the name of the guy who dressed as a Friar to become the mascot for Kettering Town Football Club. As you know, Frank was born in Kettering and drew the Friar as one of the local football characters in the weekly sports paper The Pink Un. Don't know if this is coincidence or whether anyone called Wilson was nicknamed Tug?

Tony SmithTony Smithnoreply@blogger.com
